Reactions on Jonny Bairstow’s Wicket: एशेज़ 2023 का दूसरा टेस्ट लंदन के लॉर्ड्स में खेला गया, जिसमें ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने 43 रनों से जीत दर्ज की. इस मैच की चौथी पारी में इंग्लिश बल्लेबाज़ जॉनी बेयरस्टो का विकेट चर्चाओं में बना रहा. बेयरस्टो को ऑस्ट्रेलियाई विकेटकीपर एलेक्स कैरी ने बड़े ही अनोखे ढंग से आउट किया. दरअसल, बेयरस्टो बिना शॉट खेले क्रीज़ से बाहर आए और कैरी ने विकेट के पीछे से थ्रो माकर उन्हें आउट कर दिया.
बेयरस्टो के इस विकेट पर बवाल मचना शुरू हो गया. बेयरस्टो के विकेट को लेकर पूर्व क्रिकेटर और एक्सपर्ट्स अपनी-अपनी राय पेश कर रहे हैं. इस विकेट पर क्रिकेट जगत दो भागों में बंट गया है. सबसे पहले खुद इंग्लैंड के कप्तान ने इस पर कहा, “अगर मैं उस वक़्त फील्डिंग कप्तान होता तो मैं अंपायरों पर अधिक दबाव डालता कि वे उनसे पूछें कि ओवर के आसपास उनका फैसला क्या था. तब मैं ‘खेल भावना’ के बारे में सोचता. अगर मुझसे पूछा जाए कि क्या मैं इस तरह की चीजों के साथ मैच जीतना चाहूंगा. मेरा जवाब नहीं होगा.”

वहीं इस विकेट पर ऑस्ट्रेलियाई कप्तान पैट कमिंस ने इसका समर्थन करते हुए कहा, “मुझे लगता है कि कैरी कुछ गेंद पहले भी देखा था, वहां कोई रुकाव नहीं था, उसने गेंद कैच की और सीधे फेंक दी. मुझे लगता है कि यह बिल्कुल ठीक खेल था, यही नियम है, कुछ लोग इससे सहमत नहीं होंगे लेकिन कल के कैच जैसे, नियम वहां है और मैंने इसे इसी तरह से देखा.”
